London is full of wonderful things to do for free this Christmas, perfect for when the student loan is running low. We’ve scoured London for some of the best attractions and events running this holiday season.

From museums and culture to lights and carols, it’s time to wrap up warm, get outside and enjoy London in the winter!

 

Christmas Lights Walking Tour

If you have an hour or two to spare, jump off the tube at Regent’s Park and see how many of these bright spots you can hit for a perfect tour of London’s lights!

Christmas Markets

It’s not Christmas without a walk around the market stalls. Combined with a beautiful walk along the Thames, you can pick up a hot chocolate, Dutch pancakes or some handmade goods perfect for a last-minute family gift. It’s a must for this holiday season! Check out the South Bank Winter Festival

Christmas Carols

No matter your religion, St Pauls’ Cathedral is opening its door for Christmas Carols throughout December. There are a variety of both free and ticketed services all the way up to Christmas Day! Find out more at their website

If Cathedrals aren’t your thing, check out Christmas Carols in Trafalgar Square running daily from December 9th-24th! If you are a budding vocalist, you can also get involved by applying to join the choir. Applications are closed but they do welcome emails checking for any available slots.

Winter Festival

The Aldgate in Winter Festival is running for its 6th year just round the corner from University House! Their line-up includes markets, a portrait exhibition, lantern workshops, a community feast, parades, live performances and more! For more info, check out their website

Winter Walks

Take advantage of London’s green spaces and take part in a Winter Walk! Richmond Park has been named “UK’s Best Winter Walk” by Country Life Magazine and is just a short tube away from Central London. Other featured walks include; Kensington Gardens, Greenwich Park, Victoria Park, Alexandra Palace Park and Regent’s Park. Grab a hot drink, wrap up warm and get some steps in!
