Find out what your CU Scarborough Campus Officer has been up to during Block 1 this year!
Block 1 this year started with our September welcome weeks, which spanned the entirety of September, it was great to welcome back both old and new faces to campus. We kicked off the week with the classic Brew Monday, which was well received as usual and it was a good time for both new and old students to socialise with me and the visiting Sabbatical Officers Akhil and Julia, your Welfare and Community Officers respectively, and how we represent you and the other services Your SU provides. We also had the Welcome Fair, which was a delight to plan and watch materialise, we also had the tuck shop which was well received thanks to the chant of ‘’free crisps, free drinks!’’.
The next week had even more events like the International Students' Lunch which had both old and new international students getting to know each other and the staff who could aid them on their student journey. The third week being the premiere assignment week of this block and knowing how nervy this could make the average student, Your SU created and handed out care packages to students. The fourth week was my busiest week yet as we had Student Voice Meetings, I will say this was my highlight of this block as I got to speak with numerous Course Reps about their class's student experience and how It could be improved. Then we had graduation which had to be my biggest challenge as I had to say goodbye to multiple colleagues who have shaped my student experience. It was a beautiful ceremony and I wish all graduates success in whatever they set off into.
Being Campus Officer comes with a lot of excitement and also a lot of meetings, but these meetings are essential to improving student life at our campus. This block I met with Sabbatical Officers and other Part Time Officers to discusss matters that will be beneficial to every student at the Coventry University Group. I met with the senior university staff and have raised the feedback gathered and will hopefully have updates in the next blog post.
Well, this has been an exciting block, and I am excited to see what great things Your SU will bring, until then you can contact me via email: ae2898@coventry.ac.uk.
