Rebecca Dykes

Occupational Therapy, 2nd Year

It’s been designed to keep the classic look by using icons and stock images already widely known, to allow it to be easily recognised and keep the association of disabled access. Inspired by a holistic view and person-centred practice. Surrounding the individual is icon and symbols that can represent a multitude of disabilities, soon seen and some now. The disabilities represented are brain injury/stoke, cognitive disorders, autism spectrum, Alzheimer’s/dementia, catheters, stomas, wheelchair, mobility, assistance dogs, blind/sight impaired, braille and communication difficulties, deaf/hearing impairments.

Panel's comments

There's a risk when including this many icons that the design feels confusing or cluttered, Rebecca has done a great job of not making the design feel overwhelming.

They've sensibly relied on icons with existing recognition and presented them using clean and clear design.

We also loved the values behing the design, centring it on the person themselves.

We're delighted to award Rebecca second place in the Can You See Me Now competition.
