MA Interior Design

The main icon represents 4 senses & mental disability. The design offers versatality where each symbol can be seperately indicated to adapt to specific disabilities. The idea is to make visible - inclusiveness while being communicative.

The strike is placed beneath the icon so it speaks about the absence of a certain sense but at the same time doesn't discard the prescence of the other senses. People with invisible disabilities need to be given their own space in the community without making them feeling discreted.

There were two design principles intended here:

1. ASK , ASSUME NOT.

2. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

Panel's comments

The panel loved the principle around not making assumptions, something that is crucial in defeating stigma around use of accessible facilities by those with invisible disabilities.
