Before you change course, talk to your academic team Registry team and look at the guidance here from the University about changing course. (If you are accessing this link off campus, you will need to be connected to the VPN. Find out how to use the VPN here).

If you want to swap intake (for example, from a September start to a January start) check with the course director of your new course to see whether they’ll accept you. In some cases you may need to temporarily withdraw and restart.

Any requests after the course change deadline will normally be refused or delayed until the next semester.

Course change deadline: Coventry University and Coventry University London students:

The deadline is 5 pm, Monday of Week 3 in the first semester of your new course.

CU Group students:

The deadline is 5 pm, Monday of Week 2 in the first semester of your new course.

Course Change Form:

To request a change, you need to complete a course change form.

The form for Home (Non-Visa)students can be found on the student portal here. The form for students on a student visa can be found on the student portal here. (If you are accessing this link off campus, you will need to be connected to the VPN. Find out how to use the VPN here).

The form asks for your reasons for changing course. It’s important to show that you’ve researched the new course and can explain why it’s a better fit for you and your future career plans. If you’re struggling with your current course, explain why the new course will suit you better.

After Your Course Change:

Home ( Non-Visa ) Students

Once your change has been approved, let Student Finance England know via your online SFE portal.

International (Visa) Students

International students should be aware that the University will notify the Home Office if their course, course length, or qualification changes.

This can mean that you will need to make a new student visa application before you are able to start your new course. If you’re changing intake, you’ll need to completely withdraw from your course, leave the UK, and reapply again from overseas.

Important information:

A course change cannot be used as grounds for an extenuating circumstance request.
