Reporting and Support

Reporting Sexual Violence

If you have experienced any form of sexual violence, it is your choice as to whether you report it or not.

Should you choose to report it, you can report it to:

  • The Police – if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. If you are reporting an incident that isn’t an immediate emergency, call 101.
  • University’s Hate Crime and Harassment Team - Health and Wellbeing have specialist case workers who you can report any form of sexual violence, harassment or hate crime to. You can do this via the harassment and incident reporting tool here.
  • Your Students’ Union Advice Service – Your Advice Service have a team of caseworkers who you can discuss your experience with. They will be able to talk with you about your options for reporting your experience to either the university, police or different agency. You can contact Your Advice Service by completing our enquiry form.

Accessing Support after Experiencing Sexual Violence or Abuse

University Support

  • University’s Hate Crime and Harassment Team – Health and Wellbeing have specialist case workers who you can discuss any form of sexual violence, harassment or hate crime to. Whilst they will discuss your reporting options, they can offer you emotional support as well.
  • Your Students’ Union Advice Service – Your Advice Service have a team of caseworkers who you can discuss your experience with. This kind of experience can impact your university experience and they can support with navigating this. If you are pursuing a university complaint against an alleged perpetrator, they can support you with this process as well. You can contact Your Advice Service by completing our enquiry form.

Coventry University and CU Coventry

  • CRASAC (Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre) – a specialist service providing support for adults and children who have been impacted directly or indirectly by sexual violence or abuse at any time in their lives. You can find out more about their services here and their contact details here.
  • Blue Sky Centre – a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) where victims of sexual violence such as rape can provide immediate support following an incident. You can find their contact details here.
  • Rape and Sexual Violence Project – a Birmingham and Solihull based support service who can support people who have experience sexual violence or abuse. You can find more information about their services here and their contact details here.
  • Panaghar – a specialist service dedicated to BME victims of abuse. They offer advice, refuge and IDVAs (Independent Domestic Violence Advisors). You can find out how to access their services here.
  • Coventry Haven – an organisation to help women and their children who have been or are being subjected to domestic abuse with the aim of freeing them from the situation they are in. You can find details of the support they can offer here and their contact details here.
  • Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid – support women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse. You can find their contact details here.

Other Support Services (Nationwide)

  • Rape Crisis (England and Wales) – a charity providing specialist information and support to all those affected by rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment and all other forms of sexual violence and abuse in England and Wales. You can find their contact details here.
  • Strut Safe – a free, volunteer-operated and non-judgemental support line. They will stay on the phone with you until you arrive at your destination. Find their phone number and operating times here.
  • Revenge Porn Helpline – supports all adult victims of intimate image abuse in the UK, including those who have had private images shared without consent, threatened to be shared without consent, or taken without consent. You can find their contact details here.
