About the event

Interested in volunteering in Coventry primary and secondary schools through our School Experiences programme?

Whether you want to read with pupils, support classroom teaching, or help with wide-ranging extracurricular activities, this 4-hour workshop equips you with everything you need to feel confident and prepared.

What will we cover?

  1. Safeguarding essentials: DBS process (we cover the cost), child protection basics, and school protocol
  2. Communication skills: Engaging different year groups, managing group dynamics, adapting for EAL and neurodiverse pupils
  3. Practical delivery: Understanding lesson planning, behaviour management, strategies for common challenges
  4. Logistics: Overview of school partners, types of experience, dress code, what to bring, school expectations
  5. Career benefits: How to turn placements into CV and LinkedIn content

  • Students needing practical experience with children and young people
  • Anyone building transferable skills (leadership, communication, resilience, adaptability)
  • Those considering teaching, youth work, or any other career working with children and young people
