From film nights and music to virtual webinars, see how we're marking Black History Month 2022 at CU Scarborough.
October is Black History Month.
Black History Month aims to commemorate and remember key figures and events in Black History as well as celebrate Black heritage and culture. It's also an opportunity to educate ourselves on how we can work together to tackle racism on campus, in our communities, and beyond.
The theme for Black History Month 2022 is Time for Change: Action Not Words. It encourages everything to take action against discrimination when it happens, and to work to prevent it in future. Find out more about Time for Change: Action Not Words.
Black History Month at CU Scarborough
Throughout October you'll see themed displays on the Your Students' Union noticeboard by the canteen. These will cover different topics such as mental health and wellbeing and how to report discrimination. Keep an eye out for our Black Icons signs around campus too. We'll also be publishing articles on the Your SU website and posting on our socials. Follow us at @yoursu.scarborough!
We'll also be celebrating Black talent and culture at our Black History Month Film Nights on the 10th and 17th October in G.16 from 5:00pm. You get to vote on which films we show! Find out more at the event listings below:
Finally, we're curating a Black History Month playlist on our Spotify. Send us your track suggestions at @yoursu.scarborough and listen to the playlist here.
