College of the Arts and Society Officer

I’m Akansha, your new Officer for the College of Arts and Societies. I’m currently in my final year studying Digital Media, and everything is starting to feel very real but also incredibly exciting! I’m absolutely thrilled to take on this role and help ensure that everyone at our university, whether you're just starting out or in your final year like me, has a fun, memorable, and fulfilling experience on campus.

Here are 3 key points from my manifesto that I will be working on:

  • Welcoming all to understand and respect each other's cultures.
Create a space where everyone feels a sense of belonging and feels included. Encourage people to voice any concerns and have their voices heard. Our reps work hard to gather feedback from students, and this is so we can improve your experience here as a students.
  • Build engagement of students with more creative workshops and allowing students to showcase their work around the university.
We’d loved to put together some mini activities to meet new people and take a break from studying and assignments because there is more to university than just books.
  • Addressing mental health challenges and letting students know about any resources or management workshops or resources available within the university.
Mental health is the most important thing and our highest priority which is why the officers will be working together on wellness workshops and activities that take a little bit of that stress even just for a short while and let lose, laugh and enjoy. We hope to see you all there!
