About the event
Our Volunteering Fair returns to campus on Tuesday 14 October, bringing together third sector organisations, charities, and social enterprises in The Hub. The event is designed to connect students with meaningful opportunities to support causes including young people, refugees, migrants, and global health education. In the past, more than 100 students have registered to volunteer with participating groups, gaining valuable work experience, discovering more about the local community, and building new connections.
The Fair runs from 11am to 3pm, offering flexibility to drop in at any time. Upon arrival, students can register and collect a Volunteering Card from staff members—look for the team in pink t-shirts. From there, students are encouraged to explore the Fair, engage in conversations with charity representatives, and find roles that align with their own interests or career aspirations.
Volunteering presents the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, strengthen communication and leadership skills, and improve your employability. It also demonstrates your confidence, helps students integrate into the local community, and brings variety and enjoyment to university life. Organisations featured this year include Action Tutoring, Barnardo’s Retail, Carers Trust Heart of England, Carriers of Hope, Education Saves Lives, and the United Nations Association, offering roles that range from tutoring and retail support to delivering presentations and supporting community projects.
Whether interested in immediate involvement or just exploring your possibilities, the Volunteering Fair is a welcoming space to ask questions, discover causes, and get started on your volunteering journey.
