What is the event?
You're invited to the launch of our brand-new Sensory Rooms and Lounge Space!
Layna Forbes, your Activities Officer, has been working hard on her "Building a Neuro-Inclusive Campus" campaign, which includes the significant goal of creating sensory rooms. She is excited to invite you to the official launch of her pride and joy: the Sensory Rooms and Lounge Space in the George Eliot Building (6th Floor) during Disability History Month, to celebrate this exciting milestone and explore the new spaces.
This project has been designed with students in mind, providing a safe, calm, and inclusive environment where you can rest, recharge, and regulate.

Location: George Eliot Building, 6th Floor

Time: 1 pm–3 pm
What's happening?
- A first look inside the new Sensory Rooms and Lounge
- Learn more about why these spaces were created
- Stalls and activities (including crafting and games)
- A chance to connect with other students and staff
Order of the Day
1:00 pm: Welcome & Arrival- Check in with your student ID, enjoy light refreshments, and explore the space and activity stalls.
1:15 pm: Welcome Talk- Layna Forbes (Activities Officer) gives a short introduction and overview of the Neuro-Inclusive Campus Campaign and Sensory Rooms, including the story behind the project, from design and inspiration to goals.
1:30 pm: Tours & Activities - Join small group tours of the Sensory Rooms and Lounge, enjoy crafting and sensory-friendly games, and chat with staff, services, and fellow students.
3:00 pm: Event Close
Who is invited?
This event is open to all students; everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate the launch!
Please remember to bring your student ID card with you, as it will be needed to check into the space on the day.
Access and Accessibility
The Sensory Rooms and Lounge are located on the 6th Floor of the George Eliot Building, which can be accessed by both lift and stairs. There are toilets and accessible toilets available on the same Floor.
