We’re excited to be working with Coventry City Council on a brilliant Phoenix+ collaboration, helping shape marketing content for students in the city. This project gives you the chance to share ideas, spot what matters most, and help make key information clearer, friendlier, and more useful for everyone arriving in Coventry.
Across three sessions, students will help review content around settling in, living well, and planning ahead. From Council Tax and voter registration to recycling, wellbeing, jobs, and move-out support, each workshop is designed to spark discussion, build confidence, and make sure the right messages reach the right people in the right way.
What we’ll cover:
You need to be able to attend each session to complete the opportunity and be awarded a Digital Badge
Session one: Arriving in Coventry – 26 June
We’ll focus on the first big steps of student life in the city, including Council Tax, registering to vote, and practical move-in guidance for students unfamiliar with local processes.
Session two: Living in the city – 7 July
This session will explore what it means to love where you live. We’ll look at civic pride, food waste and recycling, with the aim of making everyday messages more student-friendly and engaging.
Session three: Health, wellbeing and the future – 9 July
Our final session will focus on health, wellbeing, and next steps. We’ll explore vaccines, jobs and employment, and move-out guidance, including how to highlight donation opportunities and clothing bins in accommodation.

Why it matters:
Working collaboratively with students is a powerful way to improve communications; bringing together your fresh ideas, lived experience, and a better understanding of what is important to students navigating a new city, new systems, and lots of information at once.
This kind of partnership also helps students build confidence, communication skills, and experience working with external organisations, which are all valuable for future study and careers.
Who should get involved:
We’d love to hear from:
-
New students who’ve recently arrived in Coventry.
-
International students with experience of adjusting to UK systems.
-
Students interested in marketing, communications, or content creation.
-
Student representatives, peer mentors, and course reps.
-
Students passionate about sustainability, recycling, and civic pride.
-
Anyone who wants to help make Coventry feel even more welcoming.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something practical, positive, and student-led, while helping improve the information future students see when they first arrive in Coventry.
