Every year, November 25th marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a global call to action to end one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the world.
As the Women’s Community Engagement Lead for Coventry University, representing women across all campuses, I stand with every woman and ally in saying: enough is enough.
Gender-based violence affects 1 in 3 women worldwide, taking many forms: physical, sexual, emotional, economic, and digital. It happens in homes, schools, workplaces, and online spaces. Behind every statistic is a voice, a face, and a story that deserves to be heard and protected.
Our Role as a Community
At Coventry University, we believe in creating a safe and inclusive environment where every woman feels respected and supported. As part of our Women’s Community, we are committed to:
- Raising awareness and breaking the silence around abuse and harassment.
- Supporting survivors with compassion and confidentiality.
- Empowering students with education, advocacy, and access to support networks.
- Engaging men and allies in conversations that challenge harmful norms.
Together, we can change the culture, one conversation, one act of support, one brave stand at a time.
