Ever wondered who makes student life happen at Coventry University? Full-time and part-time officers play a key role in shaping your experience. From improving courses and wellbeing to running societies and sports, these roles give students a real voice. Take a closer look at what each type of officer does.
Full-Time Officers: The Big Four
Full-time officers are paid, year-long roles where you step away from your studies to represent all students.
- The Education Officer ensures course quality, feedback, and student voice are heard
- The Welfare Officer supports wellbeing, mental health, housing, and finances
- The Activities Officer leads societies, events, volunteering, and student campaigns
- The Sports Officer represents sports and fitness opportunities
All full-time officers are paid positions, working roughly 37.5 hours a week. They are essentially sabbatical roles, so you can’t continue your studies while doing them unless you officially take a year out. Full-time officers represent the entire student body, lead campaigns and long-term projects, sit on university committees, and collaborate across roles to improve student life.
Part-Time Officers: Represent While Studying
Part-time officers are paid hourly and continue their studies. They represent a specific campus, school, or college.
Part-time officers represent their community in SU decisions, chair student voice working groups, attend university committee meetings, and work with societies and student reps in their college, school, or campus. They support events and activities run by the SU but also plan and deliver their own. These roles are flexible, often around 10 hours per week, focus on a specific student group rather than the entire student body, and allow you to gain valuable experience while continuing your studies.
Both types of roles ensure student voices are heard and improve the university experience in their own ways.
