Autumn has arrived! The main fun of Welcome is done, and the reality of the year ahead is sinking in. Maybe it’s left you feeling a bit lost? Lonely? Overwhelmed? Or just unsure how you are supposed to balance all of your new assignments, and deadlines, with creating time for that self-care that everyone says is so important. With World Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October, we wanted to remind you of all the ways Your SU are here for you.

Wellbeing Wednesdays

This year, Your SU are putting on weekly Wellbeing Wednesday events to give you a chance to get together, discover support services and make new friends. This month, there is an opportunity to get crafty by designing your very own National Hate Crime Awareness Week themed tote bag. There’s also a chance to learn new skills, and flex that competitive spirit with a BSL and Boardgames afternoon. Plus, a chance to grab a free hot drink and safety resources, while having an informal chat with your campus PCSOs. If Thursday’s are more convenient for you, then why not sign up to our self defence class.

Sports, Societies, and Communities

Looking for a more regular way to take a break from the books? Your SU provides so many opportunities for you to get yourself out there and make friends with like-minded people. Whether that’s discovering a shared interest through joining a society, being part of a team by taking up a sport, or finding belonging in one of our SU Communities. There is a whole world of opportunities to help you find your place in Coventry. It’s all waiting for you, so why not get involved!

Look After Yourself

Whilst feeling like you belong, building a good support network and taking time away from studying to do the things you love are all key when it comes to maintaining good wellbeing, we know that sometimes you may need a bit of extra help. If you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression or low mood that are not going away regardless of what you do, and they’re stopping you from getting on with your day-to-day life – it may be time to talk. Your SU Advice Service and University Health and Wellbeing services are always here for you. As a Coventry University student, you also have access to Spectrum.Life, a 24-hour online talking therapy service. If you would prefer to research, Your SU Wellbeing pages are full of wellbeing tips and tricks, from how to stay safe to social, emotional and mental health support. We also have a searchable support hub that covers all campuses and provides links to support services both within and outside of the University.

However you may be feeling today, tomorrow or in the future - Your SU are here for you.
