National Careers Week - A Week to develop your skills summary

National Careers Week (NCW), if you did not know is national campaign to further develop yourself and skills for your future career. This term Your Skills department hosted a series of events as part of this from 6th March 2023 involving various activities to help you develop new skills, try new opportunities, and meet new people! This was a great week and many thanks to the students who came along, it was great to have all of you part of it.

Mind The Gap

On Monday 6th March Your Skills Department commenced the week hosting Mind The Gap. This was a great chance to contemplate and understand where your soft skills gaps are and how you can improve them to help make you graduate-ready. During the workshop, students completed some self-reflection activities and from this created their own Personal Development Plan to help them develop their soft skills which can help in securing dream career.

Network and Nibbles

Tuesday 7th March students had a great opportunity to meet Your Skills Team in The Courtyard where they found about our Add+Vantage modules, reward and recognition programs, volunteering opportunities and meet their fellow peers. This event was free to attend with complimentary refreshments provided.

British Sign Language

The British Sign Language Club (BSL) hosted a free session on Tuesday 7th March where students cherished the opportunity to learn BSL, socialise, meet new people, and develop a new skill. If you did not know BSL is a unique skill, not only does it enhance your communication skills, but it also raises awareness of the deaf community, while making you more aware of those around you. Students that attended the session can add this great skill to their CV whilst achieving a BSL Digital Badge.
