We want to know from our students what ideas you have for change. Whether it’s something relating to the SU or the university, you can submit an idea to us, which will be considered by the wider student body and, if approved, by the Officer team. For an idea to be considered it needs to fall under one of the following criteria:

  • To improve the delivery of one the SU’s services, this could be more face-to-face appointments for a particular service, or a new feedback mechanism you’d like us to explore.
  • Something you would like our Officers to collaborate on with the university to improve the student experience. Examples of ideas in this area could be quiet spaces in The Hub or more water filling stations across campus.
  • Topics you would like the SU to make a stand on, where examples could be something happening in world news that you think the SU should have a public position on.

How Can I Get Involved?

If you have an idea for change that you would like your Officers to consider, submit it below and we'll be in touch with the next steps. Students will also be able to ‘’like’’ any of the existing ideas below that you think the SU Officers should consider.

Proposal for Flexible Fee Payment Plan

    Passed
To alleviate financial burdens by offering options that allow students to pay tuition fees in installments rather than a lump sum at the beginning and mid term of the semester. This plan would offer more installments, emergency adjustments for exceptional circumstances, and, if possible, an automated payment system to reduce scams and payment confusion.

9:35pm on 4 Apr 25 This is a positive step forward—making the current installment system more flexible and spaced out is truly commendable. However, I would recommend introducing a petition or appeals process for students who have consistently made their payments but are suddenly faced with unforeseen circumstances. Specifically, in cases where the outstanding balance is below £5,000, it would be fair to allow a grace period for payment rather than proceeding with immediate de-registration, which can lead to serious consequences such as students being forced to leave the country. A compassionate and case-by-case approach would reflect the university's commitment to student welfare.
