Role Details

Full-time officers are paid a minimum of £24,248 a year, and work approximately 37.5 hours per week in their role. Full-time officers represent all students studying across Coventry University Group, and have different remits- welfare, education, activities or communities. Full Time Officer duties will begin in June 2024 and finish in May 2025.

To be eligible for a Full-Time Officer position, you must still have current student status at the end of the Election period (8 February 2024). The duration of the role will take place from 17 June 2024, until 31 May 2025- you must also have right to work status during this period.

Part-time officers are paid a minimum of £10.83 per hour (plus holiday pay) and work up to 10 hours per week. Part-time officers hold their office alongside their studies and tend to represent a specific community of students (e.g. a College or Campus) or a specific area of the student experience. Part Time Officer duties will begin in June 2024 and finish in May 2025.

To be eligible for a Part-Time Officer position, you must be able to fulfil a minimum of at least 6 months in post. The date of office starts on 17 June 2024, which means that you must have current student status until at least 17 December 2024, in order to be eligible to stand.

There are 4 Full-time Officer positions available at Coventry University Group. These are full-time roles, and will be expected to work 40 hours per week, with a minimum rate of pay of £24,248 per annum. Each Officer has their own remit to look after, which forms part of the overall student experience at Coventry, and collectively the Officer team represent all students studying at the university.

Welfare Officer (1 role available) – this position will work closely with the Advice Service, and focuses on aspects such as student safety and welfare, as well as helping to shape policies and procedures that are student-focused.

Education Officer (1 role available) – this position will work closely with the Student Voice Team, focusing on supporting the team of student representatives and helping to collect and deliver student feedback.

Activities Officer (1 role available) – this position will work closely with the Sports, Societies and Volunteering departments, focusing on improving and enhancing the student activity offer at the Students’ Union.

Communities Officer (1 role available) – this position will work closely with the Communities Team, focusing on aspects such as equality, diversity and inclusion and working with our student communities to deliver activity and helping students to build connections on campus.

College Officers and School Officer, Coventry Campus: CEES, CBL, CAS, SHC (up to 10 hours per week, £10.83 per hour plus holiday pay)

College Officers act as the president of their college. They will help to lead the team of School Reps, and support the vast network of other Student Representatives in their area, ensuring students get to change their experience for the better.

College Officers focus on the student experience in their college. They work with college staff, and the wider SU team to support their students academically and ensure they receive a complete university experience.

We also have the School Officer position, for the newly-formed School of Health and Care. This role mirrors that of the College Officers, however rather than fitting a college structure, it instead is its own school.

These individuals also sit on Union Affairs Committee, Coventry Executive and various University committees where they will make decisions to benefit students.

Postgraduate Research Officer, Coventry Campus: PGR (upto 10 hours per week, £10.83 per hour plus holiday pay)

The role of the PGR Part-time Officer is to represent all postgraduate research students. The PGR Officer contributes to the development of a student community across the research centres, through representation, campaigns and events. This individual will also represent the voice of postgraduate research students at different meetings, including the Research Rep Meeting, Research Voice Forum, Doctoral College Steering Committee and the University Research Committee.

Campus Officers: CU Coventry, Coventry University London, CU London and CU Scarborough, (10 hours per week, £10.83 per hour plus holiday pay for Coventry and Scarborough roles, £10.83 per hour plus London weighting plus holiday pay for London roles)

Campus Officers are the face of the student experience at your campus. They will ensure students get to shape their experience for the better.

The Campus Officers are the principal representative for their campus. They lead on public-facing activities for the SU at their campus and are a key link in the relationship between that campus and the SU.

The roles make up part of the Cross Campus Executive Team. They also sit on Union Affairs Committee, making decisions for students across the Coventry University Group.
