Your housing situation can greatly impact your time at university. Whether you’re dealing with rent, maintenance, or housemate issues, it can cause challenges that you may be completely new to. However, you’re not alone. The Housing Forum, hosted by Your Students' Union, is here for students to share, discuss, and get advice on housing problems. Each campus - Coventry, London, and Scarborough - has its own dedicated online forum, so you can connect with students in your area.

What is the Housing Forum?

It’s an online space where students come together to talk about housing. You can share your experiences, ask for advice, and help others by discussing common issues like rent disputes, slow maintenance, or trouble getting deposits back. If you are searching for new housemates, you can add a post to try and connect with others who too may be in search of housemates to split rent and bills with.

Common Housing Issues

Students across campuses often face similar problems:

  • Rent disputes: Struggling with high rent or unexpected increases.
  • Maintenance issues: Landlords being slow to fix things like heating or leaks.
  • Deposit problems: Getting your full deposit back after moving out.
  • Housemate drama: Conflicts over cleaning, noise, or differing lifestyles.
  • Safety concerns: Worrying about insecure locks or poorly lit areas.

By sharing your housing experiences on the Housing Forum for your campus, you can learn from others who’ve faced similar problems. You might get practical tips on how to handle a tricky landlord or deal with housemate conflicts. Likewise, your advice could help someone else avoid a common housing pitfall.

Get Involved

It’s easy to join the Housing Forum. Just log in, choose your campus-specific forum—Coventry, London, or Scarborough—join the conversation, and start sharing. Whether it’s to solve a problem or offer advice, your experience can make a difference for others.

Join your campus-specific Housing Forum today and help create a supportive student housing community!
