Welcome to the Manufacturing Society!
This society is all about the world of manufacturing and how they influence all aspects not in just the engineering world but further. In short, we just like to MAKE THINGS!!
We are also the proud owners, of Coventry University's version of the Game Show Taskmaster! And we can’t wait to put on more!
We are a relaxed society that meet up 2 - 3 times a week and run fun workshops that help improve your current skill set through different means. This mainly includes (but not limited to):
We can't wait to see you there :)
We do a wide variety of weekly socials where members of all years and those of others courses/societies are welcome. These range from meals out such as a Christmas dinner to large pub crawls as well as other non alcohol related events such as laser tag and go karting.
Many of our socials also include an academic edge to further our knowledge and understanding in a relaxed, fun and interesting way. This includes: 3D Printing, CNC Machining, Workshop Access, Raspberry Pi Coding, Access to ECB Lab and Access to the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Labs.
We also have mentoring sessions where members from all years can mix and assist others in their work with the aim of improving the learning experience for all years within our course. These will involve looking at topics within the course material where members are struggling with other members of the society to build a greater understanding. These will build upon what members have learnt within their tutorial sessions with their lecturers.
These mentoring sessions may also be of interest to members from outside of the manufacturing engineering course who have an interest in the content of the course.
Becoming an Engineer today requires more than just knowledge, therefore, we also organise talks where we invite members of industry to talk about topics related to the material both within and outside our course. These talks can be enjoyed by all members whether they are part of the manufacturing engineering course or not. Alongside these talks, we also run workshops that build transferable skills that have a wide range of applications such as public speaking and presentation skills. ____________________________________________________________________
To further gain a wide variety of knowledge we also organise a number of both national and international trips where we visit manufacturing sites that specialise in multiple different products and techniques.
