International Disaster Concern Society

The IDC welcomes members from all courses. Although we mainly attract Disaster Management, Geography, Natural Hazards and Engineering students, our interests are so diverse there is bound to something here for you!

As our name suggests we are all about disasters of any kind which means that we cover a very broad range of topics in our activities from personal development to poverty issues to personal emergency preparedness.

As a committee, our aims are:

• To produce, develop and source enriching activities for members on local, national and international levels.
• To assist members in support of their goals and aspirations.
• To establish a network for students and practitioners to engage academically and socially in a comfortable environment.
• To facilitate fundraising and awareness projects for charities chosen by members.

This year we aim to organise a variety of fundraisers, social events, and guest speakers, as well as other potential trips whilst providing opportunities for our members to use and enhance their skills in a constructive environment.

We are member driven so that means if there is something you want to do, we will help you make that a reality. We accept members all year round so even if you just want a platform for a fundraiser or want to attend an event or two, we could be right for you!

We also like to send out a weekly updates regarding society activities which is always open to member input, so feel free to contact us if there is something you want to add in the next update.

Membership is £2 per year which goes towards insurance and general running costs as well as funding guest speakers and workshops.
