Moving into your new uni space can be exciting but it can be a little overwelming too. Rest assured we are here to help.
Not only do we have this handy guide, we also have the oppurtunity to sign up for our upcoming IKEA Nottingham Shopping Experience.

We think IKEA should be on every move in check list. Not only do they have everything you might need to get started in your new space, they have inspirational room layouts that you can walk through and see their products in use. And after all of that decision making, you can grab some of their famous meatballs and take a breather before taking your haul home to set up.

IKEA essentials for you to consider:

  • Comfortable bedding
A good nights sleep is not up for debate. Make sure to grab yourself some comfy pillows, a cosy duvet and covers that make you want to jump into bed after a long day of lectures.  Want to add the extra element of luxury? Opt for a mattress topper for added comfort.

  • Desk essentials
While you can use any of the study spaces on campus, you may also want a setup at home. Lamps, a supportive chair and desk organisers to keep all your study materials within reach are a good idea, plus you might want to add a motivational quote or picture.

  • Storage, storage and more storage
While a floor wardrobe is tempting, storage solutions in your new space are key. Consider under bed storage boxes, over the door hooks and vacuum storage bags for your more bulky items such as extra bedding and winter clothes. IKEA is a great place to pick up storage boxes and organisers of all sizes.

  • Decor
Adding personality to your room is the fun bit! This is your time to step into your independence. Think posters, lighting, plants, photos of family and friends and a comfy floor rug. Turn those fresh plain walls into something that feels like you. IKEA has a big range of fake plants for those of you that don't need the extra stress of keeping plants alive.

  • Bathroom essentials
If you've got your own bathroom, think shower organiser, non slip bath mat, a set of good towels and a washing basket to keep those wet towels off the ground. For a shared space, a shower caddy and flip-flops are ideal.

  • Kitchen essentials
Having some basic kitchen essentials will help you get settled until you get into the swing of cooking regularly. A pot and pan, utensils and some storage containers for your left overs.
Got housemates? Why not all chip in on a new microwave, and maybe set up a cleaning schedule for it too!

Start building your wish list by checking out IKEA's website for inspiration.
