We run a variety of training sessions throughout the week to accommodate recreational and competitive runners, from track & field to endurance running, with opportunities to enter events to compete for the University throughout the year. These include the major BUCS Athletics championship events (XC, Indoors & Outdoors) and other relay events where we compete as a team.
Our main training sessions are held in conjunction with Coventry Godiva Harriers, who are a high performing local club that it is possible to join as well to give more opportunities to race competitively in various cross-country and road races.
Furthermore, we have themed social nights planned on Wednesdays to ensure members can get to know eachother well and build a strong club bond, as well as other club events throughout the year.
Competitive membership (£55 + £20 Coventry Godiva Harriers fee) enables you to attend all training sessions and events held throughout the week whether you would like to do endurance, sprinting or field events. You will need to pay the Coventry Godiva Harriers Membership fee (£20) on our website to enable you to train in our sessions with them, as our club will pay the total membership fee (£40) to CGH on your behalf. You can join 1st or 2nd claim depending on if you currently are with a club, and there are a few races included over the year with Coventry Godiva Harriers membership. We will organise membership with them once you have paid the fees. We will aim to subsidise costs for the races that we enter as much as possible but there may be some extra small costs involved in these that will be communicated at the time.
Recreational membership (£25) allows you to attend the weekly circuit training sessions, social runs and all other events such as the Wedndesday night socials.
Throughout the week we have a number of different activities/training sessions for both our recreational and competitive members.
We do accomodate for field events in athletics, however we didn't have any members who participated in these events last year so do not panic if you can't see have no members left who particpated in these events so do not panic if you can't see your event on the list above, as we will be able to work out training sessions for you if required.
All our training sessions are done with coaches from Coventry Godiva Harriers (local athletics club). We train not only to improve our selves and have fun but to also prepare for races such as the BUCS Championships, where we represent Coventry University against fellow athletes from other universities across the country!
Travel to training is organised through members sharing lifts with those that have a car in Coventry.
N.B. For sprinters, this year we are going to be working with a new sprint coach from Coventry Godiva Harriers. Depending on the number of sprinters we have this year will determine when the training will take place after discussing with our coach. Information will be provided as soon as possible once we know numbers and training times are decided.
Furthermore, for field athletes we are working to organise sessions for you train aswell, and will update you as soon as possible when there is an update.
