This report is a summary of the work your Education Officer has done so far in their tenure. They will be answering questions and explaining their work during the upcoming Officer Accountability Panel. You can book your free space for the Officer Accountability Panel.

Manifesto 1:

Successful Rep transition to higher roles to improve quality representation and enhance role satisfaction and improve engagement.

  • Monthly advert on SU website, Social media and News letters on
  • available rep roles, rep of the month and rep rewards.
  • Meeting with SU commercial to negotiate 10% discount and Student extra package for reps.
  • Meetings with Reps to discuss challenges in their roles and how to overcome, and any ideas on how we can better promote rep roles/opportunities, and to review impact of current actions taken.

Progress Updates (Green)

  • Videos on how to sign up to become a reps, roles of a rep and benefits done. Rep recruitment and advert for vacant position listed on bulletins and website.
  • Secured 10% Discount for all purchases by Reps in any of the SU catering outlets (Union Streat Kitchen and Café, The Leaf)
  • Secured Dominos Pizza sponsorship for Rep social event

Manifesto 2:

To increase Student academic/course success rate through involvement of student in co-creating course timetables and curriculum development  

  • Analyse YCC data collected and identify any trends relating to timetabling.
  • Support with active promotion of online feedback tool for gathering timetabling feedback
  • Speak to each college staff, with relevant PTOs present (assoc heads for quality, assoc dean for quality, and assoc heads for student exp and dean for student experience), to understand/send info on how they currently involve students in co-curricular development. Understand any current barriers facing to this
  • Monthly Meetings with PTOs - to discuss feedback trends on Timetabling
  • Take on a facilitative role between students/reps and relevant course staff, should students wish to suggest ideas or help to co-create their curriculum, introducing both parties to each other and helping them to find solutions.

Progress Updates (Green):

  • Discussed timetabling concerns during SVWG meeting for CBL, CAS, SHC with member staff.
  • Feedback trend on timetabling this semester has been minimal and all previous college wide feedback trends on timetabling were resolved.
  • Involvement of students in SHC and PGR curriculum transformation programs confirmed.
  • Most major timetabling concerns resolved.

Manifesto 3:

Increase awareness of academic support services available to students to enhance academic success, best practices, activities and overall educational experience.

  • Awareness campaigns through emails, social media, Aula, and the yoursu website (to be determined if content to happen across year, or specific campaign period)
  • Set up stalls to promote available academic support services (eg talent team, student success coaches, library, IT/Digital Service units)
  • Organise two major academic kick-off session incollaboration with Talent teams, Success Coach and CAW, IT Unit tagged 'Now you are enrolled, What Next?’

Progress Updates (Amber):

  • I have organised the two Academic Kick-off event tagged ‘NOW YOU ARE ENROLLED… WHAT NEXT?’ 
  • Mapped out days and location of stalls to further promote these support services

Manifesto 4:

Support with the ongoing programme within The Voice team, for reps and the collation of student feedback.

  • Rep conference- support with upto 2 rep conferences, including setting of agenda, promotion of event, delivering content etc.
  • Rep socials- support with the creation of a timetable of 5 rep socials (3 first semester, 2 second semester), promotion of socials, leading on socials etc. Expand into London/Scarborough campuses.
  • GOALING and GOATING- Support with collection of student feedback through goaling and goating initiatives.
  • Student Voice Awards- support planning and delivery of annual awards ceremonies. Expand attendance to wider rep pool.
  • Varied attendance at YCC's and SVWGs to support feedback delivery

Progress Updates (Amber)

  • Supported with plans for Rep conference and delivering content
  • Organised 1st, 2nd and 3rd Rep. Socials
  • Invitation now extended to all Reps for Student and staff awards.

Other duties and activities:

Represent Students and voice concerns raise at different high level board meetings

  • Attended University governing board meetings
  • Organised Officers Welcome event
  • Organised stall at CU Coventry Dagenham
  • Organised Wellbeing event
