This report is a summary of the work your Welfare Officer has done so far in their tenure. They will be answering questions and explaining their work during the upcoming Officer Accountability Panel. You can book your free space for the Officer Accountability Panel.
Manifesto 1:
Flexible Fee Payment Plan Implementation. The aims are below:
- Research on other universities' payment plans
- Data collection through WonkHE
- Student focus groups meetings
Progress updates:
- Successfully contacted other SU and their FTOs and collected data about implementation of flexible payment plan in their university. Gathered information about international student instalment payments needs through WonkHE and documented it with details of 18 universities who implemented FPP.
- Completed 2 out of 4 planned student focus group meetings. The SU have made a request for data/information about the university’s current finances around student fees to help strengthen the proposal. Planned to work comms on a petition with all the details shortly and the outcome will be submitted to university as a proposal.
Manifesto 2:
Food Hardship Support. The aims are below:
- Campus-wide support research
- External organization engagement
- Resource allocation assessment
Progress updates:
Completed research across all three campus locations, identifying current support systems (Coventry Grocery kits + food vouchers). Findings presented to Advice staff and shared with Kyleigh, Sarah, and London team. Current stock levels assessed as sufficient. Next step is to aware professional and academic services to refer to Advice Service for Support.

Job Portal Enhancement. The aims are below:
- Job portal audit
- University department collaboration
- Job opportunity development
Progress updates:
Achieved 3000 student visits to Job portal. Secured collaborations with multiple departments including Library, Maths, and Sigma for job opportunities. Established connections with the Talent team, future lets, and catering services. Collaboration with external organisation is going on.
Manifesto 4:
Scholarship Research and support. The aims are below:
- Documentation of available scholarships
- Information accessibility improvement as Advice service will give support to guide students

Manifesto 5:
Student Wellbeing and Engagement. The aims are below:
- Event planning and execution of wellbeing (mental, financial, sexual) events
- Cultural celebrations that increase engagement based on demographics
Progress updates:
- Successfully planned monthly events in collaboration with PTOs through term end. First event Successfully hosted in October with attendance of 52 actively attended students.
- SHAG Week and destress festival event is in planning stages in collaboration with Rachel. Organized Onam Event (76 student attendees). Monthly e for awareness days and PTO collaboration wellbeing events.
- Students Idea platform has been confirmed and waiting for comms to put on website
