We want to express our shock and disgust at the far-right violence that we’ve seen across the UK in recent days.

As a Students’ Union that proudly represents a diverse student community across multiple UK locations, we condemn any form of violence and hate, and we stand in solidarity with migrants, racialised and Muslim communities who have faced xenophobic, Islamophobic and racist violence in the last week.

We want all students to feel safe and welcome on campus, but we understand that currently many students may not. If you are feeling concerned for your safety, or need any support, we have support services available to help you.

Support and Safety

SafeZone is an app that gives you quick access to the university’s Protection team, who patrol campus 24/7. You can call for help or assistance directly through the app from anywhere on campus. Download for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Your Students’ Union Advice Service
 

Your SU will always advocate for unity and peace and stand against hate and violence. We urge everyone to reach out to your friends, classmates and colleagues who are Muslim or from Global Majority backgrounds. Challenge and condemn all forms of hate and violence and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those who are most affected. This is a time for communities to come together and support each other, rather than drive further division.
